No longer do you need to have silver fillings that can become apparent when you speak or laugh; white fillings known as composite resins (modified plastic and glass hybrid) are a great alternative to mercury/amalgam fillings that can stain and potentially weaken your teeth.
Composite or tooth- coloured fillings can be closely matched to the colour of your existing teeth and look very natural in the mouth.
The procedure is usually completed in one appointment. The dentist will remove all decay and thoroughly clean your tooth. If the decay was near the nerve of the tooth, a special medication may be applied for protection.
After preparation, the composite resin is precisely placed, shaped and polished.
At the conclusion of your treatment, you will be given care instructions and advice from the dentist.
It is normal to feel some sensitivity afterwards, but this is usually a very short term.
